Forums should be working again
Comments (2) - Posted on Tuesday, June 10 @ 6:18 PM by Josh

For the last 2 or so days anyone who is not an Administrator or Moderator has been unable to access the forums because of an error occurring.

This should now be fixed. If for some reason any more errors pop up then please notify me about them so that I can fix it.

Slick (Custom Skin) Features
Comments (0) - Posted on Sunday, June 8 @ 10:31 PM by Josh

I will be using this thread to list all of the new features that have been added specifically to the work-in-progress custom skin, Slick. These are features that are only found in Slick.

[LIST]
  • MySpace/Facebook Styled Status Message underneath username in postbit and profile.
  • Improved forum and thread title and description boxes conviently placed at the top of the page. Increased SEO.
  • Thumbnail of user's homepage displayed under Contact Info located within their profile page.

Make sure to check out these new features that are implemented into Slick. I may be adding more of these later on.

  • Upgraded Server!

Well we upgraded our server, so check out the stats: www.cancerhost.com/status

    765 MB RAM
    QuadCores

    Everything else is the same.

    Update

    >> RVSkins permanently gone
You may have already noticed this, but the RVSkins for cPanel have been uninstalled/removed from the server. The license Ralph had donated seemed to no longer have its license pointing to the server, thus you may have noticed that for a period of time cPanel was plagued with an error screen.

We are using the default cPanel theme, x3 again.

    >> Forums URL
You can now access the forums using:
    http://forum.cancerhost.com

It is technically possible to access the forums via the old URL, however you will notice that all URLs on the forums now point to the new subdomain.
    ___________________________________________

    >> URL Rewrite MOD Removed
This would be the MOD that rewrote forum and thread URLs into a more suitable SEO format. It was removed due to some problems with its flexibility and functionality. If you had links pointing to these rewritten URLs, then they will no longer work.
    ___________________________________________

    >> Unconfirmed Users Removed
There was around 18 users that had registered months ago, but never bothered to activate their account via the email you receive after registration. These users have been removed from the database.
    ___________________________________________

    >> Custom Forum Skin
The custom forum skin that I have been working on (titled Slick) is coming along smoothly. Users can choose to view the progress by changing to the skin via the drop down at the bottom of the page or in their User CP.

The skin is INCOMPLETE/STILL IN PROGRESS at this point in time.
    ___________________________________________

    >> Adjusted Forum Signature Limits
We now allow users to have signatures at the maximum dimensions of 500x150 pixels and the maximum file size of 50KB.

The forum rules has been updated to reflect these adjustments.
    ___________________________________________

    >> Free and Paid Hosting Management System
We are currently deciding/discussing our options for handling/managing free and paid hosting accounts. There will be more information on this as soon as possible.

    >> Possibly a New Server
We are also deciding/discussing our options of getting a better server. Again, more information will be made available as soon as possible.
